A recent report finally revealed the reason why Liv Morgan has not defended her WWE Women’s World title since winning it.

After winning the women’s Royal Rumble earlier this year, Liv Morgan challenged Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World title at WrestleMania 42 and ended up winning the title as well. However, it’s been nearly two months since Liv won the title, but she has yet to defend it.

Liv Morgan is participating in the ongoing Queen of the Ring tournament despite already holding the title and has already advanced to the semi-finals. Fans on the internet have been questioning Morgan’s booking as the Women’s World Champion, as she has had zero title defenses since becoming the champion.

Reason why Liv Morgan isn’t defending her Women’s World title

On their recent Q&A session, WrestleVotes reported that Liv Morgan will be in the finals of the Queen of the Ring tournament at Night of Champions 2026, and will not be defending her Women’s World title until then:

Liv Morgan is in this tournament, and she’ll make the finals over there in Saudi Arabia, so she won’t be defending the title between now and then. Then afterwards, you’re looking at about a month, so they’ll wait for SummerSlam to have her defend it. And then it’s going to be upwards of 80 days, which is ridiculous. She’s not going to defend that title anytime soon.”

WrestleVotes further reported that the WWE is being extra careful to avoid any injury for Liv Morgan, as she already had a bump on her head:

They are being extra careful with talent who have been injured or banged up. They can’t afford people to be out for long periods of time, and this is a result of that. Liv Morgan has been circled, starred, highlighted months going into WrestleMania, and just before her match she got a big bump on her head.”

The report concluded that WWE couldn’t have the match they wanted to have with Liv Morgan, so they are trying to keep Liv healthy by not having her defend her title:

They couldn’t have the match they wanted to have, and they didn’t want to change the plans on the fly. That’s why they wanted to keep things status quo for her moving forward. So that’s the reason you’re looking at her going 50+ days now without a title defense—they’re trying to get her healthy and trying not to push the envelope with some of these talents they want to rely on in the long run.” [H/T Ringside News]

It will be interesting to see if Liv Morgan ends up winning the Queen of the Ring tournament while already holding the Women’s World title.
