The retirement of Sting is on the horizon and the wrestling legend has reacted to Ric Flair being in AEW by his side.

It was announced by WWE & TNA/IMPACT Hall of Famer Sting on the October 18th edition of AEW Dynamite that he planned to retire as an active wrestler at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view in 2024, which will likely take place in March.

Going into Dynamite this week, AEW announced that the company’s Owner, CEO & General Manager Tony Khan was going to give Sting a gift. There was a lot of speculation about what that gift would be.

This led to the entrance of the man who was arguably Sting’s greatest opponent and a close friend: “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, who made his AEW debut by joining Sting, Tony Schiavone & Nick Wayne in the ring. Flair and Sting hugged while Flair even chopped the Stinger for old times sake.

Flair would go on to deliver some kind words towards his friend, Sting.

“You know that in life there are moments that are magical. There are few and they are far between. And that’s the magic of the chemistry of whatever you do that makes you the best. 35 years ago, Sting and I made history on TBS. Brother, I’ve told him this, to go 55 minutes in a match 35 years ago or tonight is hard. He never took a deep breath. He is not only one of the greatest wrestlers in the history of this business, but dammit, he’s probably the nicest guy I’ve ever known.”

“So, when I got an invitation from Mr. Khan to be a part of this, time flies, but I want to ride this out with you man. Woooo!”

The feel-good reunion ended when TNT Champion Christian Cage interrupted. Christian had some old jokes for Flair, who at 74 years old is thankfully retired from being an active wrestler.

Christian issued a challenge for the AEW Full Gear PPV on November 18th: Christian Cage, Luchasaurus & Nick Wayne vs. Sting, Darby Allin and a partner of their choice. Sting accepted the match.

Sting says that Ric Flair will be with him until the end of his career

On X/Twitter, The Stinger reacted to Ric Flair’s AEW debut appearance by making it clear that Flair will be by his side for Sting’s upcoming retirement over the next five months.

He put me on the map in the very beginning, and @RicFlairNatrBoy is going to be with me every step of the way to the end, and we’ll go out together in a blaze of glory!

WWWOOOO! OOOWWW! It’s showtime!

AEW has yet to announce a date for the Revolution 2024 PPV. It has usually taken place in early March, although it was on February 29th in 2020.
