It seems WWE is making major plans for Oba Femi.

The 2025 Royal Rumble saw Charlotte Flair return from over a year out of action to win the women’s match and book a title shot at WrestleMania 41. On the men’s side of things, Jey Uso shocked John Cena to win the Rumble match, earning him a shot at Gunther and the World Heavyweight Championship.

In 2026, the Royal Rumble will take place outside of North America for the very first time as it emanates from Saudi Arabia on January 31st. Fans are expecting some major names to take part in the two Rumble matches, but it seems there might still be room for some stars from NXT.

A major advert in Riyadh has featured Tatum Paxley, Ethan Page, Lola Vice, Joe Hendry, and Thea Hail, indicating that they will all be a part of the Rumble event. Oba Femi is also featured in the advertising, and he is perhaps the most notable name involved, as he recently vacated the NXT Championship.

Oba Femi Set For Major Role In WWE Royal Rumble

Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio noted that Femi’s placement is interesting as he’s shown beside some of WWE’s very top stars:

There’s a billboard up at the arena in Saudi Arabia for the Royal Rumble. And all of the major stars are on it — Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns — but also… Oba Femi.

Dave Meltzer noted he expects the Royal Rumble to be a showcase for Femi, even if he doesn’t win the match:

I expected Oba Femi would be in it and he’s probably gonna throw a whole bunch of people out. I mean, this is gonna be — it’s probably gonna be his coming‑out party, so to speak.

While Trick Williams has officially moved from NXT to SmackDown and Je’Von Evans has made the jump from NXT to Raw, the future of Oba Femi remains somewhat unknown. Vignettes have aired hyping up the star, but it could be that WWE is waiting until the Royal Rumble to officially debut him on the main roster. And that could mean he’s in line for a huge showcase at the event, and perhaps even a surprise victory.
