Roman Reigns Skirts Question On WWE Showdown With The Rock
Roman Reigns is giving little away.
In a surprising twist, on the very special January 6th edition of Raw, The Rock paid tribute to Cody Rhodes before crowning Roman Reigns the Undisputed Tribal Chief.
Following an introductory promo from Triple H, Rock kicked off the show with his ‘Final Boss’ persona nowhere in sight. Instead, the Hollywood megastar talked up the show’s importance, had some fun with the crowd, and praised Rhodes for carrying WWE on his back. He even took a second to acknowledge Reigns as the Tribal Chief.
This segment ran into the first match of the night between Reigns and Solo Sikoa which was contested in Tribal Combat.
The match was all-out chaos with Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu getting involved before being dealt with by Sami Zayn and Jimmy Uso. But then Kevin Owens interrupted to hit Reigns with a Stunner, only to be taken out by Rhodes. This left the way clear for Reigns to finally get the win.
After the bout, Paul Heyman was set to present his Tribal Chief with the Ula Fala but was stopped when The Rock emerged. The Rock took the Ula Fala from Heyman and placed it around Reigns’ neck before the two stars embraced
Roman Reigns Content To Let Fans Talk
During the post-show press conference, Reigns was asked about his moment with The Rock and how much it meant to him.
“It was a great honor to be able to represent our family, from the very top, the High Chief Peter Maivia, to my father Sika, my Uncle Afa. To be able to showcase our legacy, put on our craft for the whole world on Netflix.
I say it all the time, it’s all about this representation to showcase our talents, and just how good we are at this craft, and tonight was another opportunity to go and do that, and who better to do that with than Dwayne.”
When asked about a potential match with The Rock, Reigns had no interest in getting involved in the speculation.
“We’re just gonna let the internet do its thing.”
Meanwhile, in a move no one saw coming, it’s been announced that The Rock will be heading to NXT on January 7th. Rock’s daughter Ava is the current NXT General Manager and given her recent issues with Eddy Thorpe, things might not be looking good for the up-and-coming star.
