ROH’s Maria Kanellis Facing Surgery

Maria Kanellis

ROH star Maria Kanellis has revealed that she will be undergoing surgery later this year

On July 8th, Kanellis revealed on social media that doctors had found a mass on her adrenal gland. The star had actually asked for tests to be carried out on her adrenal glands six months previously, but unfortunately, her insurance would not approve them.

“So fun story… 6 months ago I asked to get my adrenal glands checked and blood work done to check hormone levels because of symptoms I had been having. Insurance would not approve the tests. Fast forward today, I had a CT with contrast to check a mass that was found accidentally during another test, that is either on my kidney or adrenal gland. Moral of the story… listen to your body.”

In an update later the same day, the former TNA Knockouts Champion confirmed the mass was on her adrenal gland, and that her next step would be to meet with a surgeon.

“So here is the update. Yes it is a mass on my adrenal gland. Next step is meeting with an endocrinologist surgeon. It’s inconclusive at this point, if it is cancer. In other news, I ate French fries and a concrete mixer and I feel a little better.”

Maria Kanellis Will Undergo Surgery In September

On July 30th, Kanellis provided an update following her appointment, explaining that she will be scheduling surgery for September as the mass is “borderline” and a biopsy would not be possible.

“I went to my doctor’s appointment today at Rush. The next steps are blood work and a possible 24 hour urine test. From there I will be scheduling surgery for most likely some time in September. The mass I have is borderline what they get concerned about and biopsy is not an option. I will be having a retroperitoneoscopic andrenalectomy and they will biopsy the mass after.”

Maria Kanellis signed with AEW in 2022 alongside her husband, Mike Bennett, and Matt Taven. The group known as The Kingdom has since become a regular part of Ring of Honor. In December 2023, Taven and Bennet joined forces with Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, and Wardlow as The Undisputed Kingdom. Kanellis has since split from the group and now manages Cole Karter and Griff Garrison.
