Ric Flair sees a lot of similarities between a young AEW star and WWE legend Randy Orton.

As a two-time WWE Hall of Famer and 16-time World Champion in pro wrestling, Ric Flair’s opinion is a valuable one when it comes to the business that he has loved his entire life.

For most of the last 20+ years, Ric Flair was associated with WWE until he signed with AEW in November. Flair has made it clear that he wants to be around for his good friend Sting’s final run in the company that will culminate in The Stinger’s final match at AEW Revolution in March 2024.

During his WWE career, Flair was part of a very successful faction called Evolution that also included Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista. While the group was together in 2003-05, Orton and Batista would become main event performers while Flair was already a wrestling legend and Triple H was a current top guy. The four have combined to win over 50 World Titles in their incredible careers.

Ric Flair Sees Similarities Between MJF And Randy Orton

While speaking to The Wrestling Classic, Ric Flair spoke about the current AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman and explained why MJF reminds him of Orton.

“Well, number one, I think he’s [MJF] actually. He comes across as confident in real life as he comes across with his confidence in the ring, and he’s got a good interview.”

“He’s got a great look. He worked hard. I think he’s got the confidence in real life that he portrays on TV, and I think the future is unlimited for him, and he’s really good. He could be the next Randy Orton. That’s about as high a praise as I can give him.”

The 27-year-old MJF won the AEW World Title over a year ago at the age of 26 to become the youngest AEW World Champion ever. Randy Orton is the youngest World Champion in WWE history since he won the first of his 14 World Titles at 24 years old.
