Rhea Ripley Makes Massive WWE Revelation: “I Was So Scared”
Rhea Ripley has revealed interesting details about a big moment in WWE.
Mami is one of the topmost female stars on the sports entertainment juggernaut’s roster. She has won eight titles in WWE overall, as well as other accolades, including the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble.
However, her Royal Rumble victory almost slipped away from her grasp.
Rhea Ripley was close to a WWE setback
The final moments of the Women’s Royal Rumble in 2023 saw Rhea Ripley, Asuka, and Liv Morgan battle it out on the apron. After some back-and-forth, The Eradicator eliminated The Empress of Tomorrow, leaving herself and Liv Morgan as the final two competitors.
However, as Ripley looked to eliminate Morgan, the latter responded with a Codebreaker, leading to Mami staggering on the apron. She slipped off the apron, but barely held onto the ropes before dropping Liv Morgan to the floor with a headscissor to win the multi-woman extravaganza.
During a recent interview with ESPN, Rhea Ripley recalled how her hands were sweaty during the final stretch of the match. She added that she was seriously worried about botching things up.
This is a big day. This is a very big day. Right now I’m thinking, please don’t fall, and then I slipped and I was like, ‘oh, please don’t let go.’ Like if I let go, I’ve screwed everything up. But like this whole day was just so stressful for me because I also came out earlier and I got speared by Beth on the concrete floor, like in the rampway, which is straight concrete. Yes, I was feeling that, and then I was like, OK, well, now I’m going to come in at number one. which is like the worst spot that anyone could ever come in as in the Royal Rumble. Cause like you have to outlast like 29 other women and it’s just virtually impossible. But I managed to get to the last three, and by then I was so sweaty, my hands were wet and I slipped, and as soon as I grabbed it, I was like, ‘do not let go. Like for the love of God, through all the weights that you picked up while being sweaty, this is the one you can’t drop.’
Upon being asked, Ripley admitted she was “very close” to losing her grip on the ropes.
Very close. Very close. Like, I was so scared. [H/T: Fightful]
Rhea Ripley went on to dethrone Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WWE WrestleMania 39.
