Trick Williams accidentally botched a moment during a segment with Randy Orton on WWE SmackDown.

The January 9, 2026, episode of SmackDown in Berlin, Germany, was kicked off by Randy Orton, whose promo was soon interrupted by Trick Williams.

During their heated verbal exchange, Williams slapped the microphone out of Orton’s hand. However, in an unscripted moment, the microphone ended up flying into the crowd. Both Orton and Williams briefly broke character but quickly snapped back into character and continued the segment as planned.

Following the WWE Elimination Chamber PLE, Trick Williams spoke about the incident during an appearance on My Mom’s Basement with host Robbie Fox. During the interview, Fox asked him about the now-viral botch involving Randy Orton.

Williams explained that he wanted the moment to look natural, which is why he decided to slap the microphone out of Orton’s hand. However, the move did not go exactly as planned and resulted in the microphone flying into the crowd.

“It’s funny because I made up in my mind early like I’m going to smack that microphone out of Randy Orton’s hand. I said if I’m going to do it then I got to smack it to make sure that, you know, I don’t look stupid. You know, it can’t just fall over. You know what I mean? Like I’mma smack the microphone out of his hand.”

He also recalled that Orton’s immediate reaction was yelling, “watch out,” as the microphone went flying toward the audience. Williams admitted that the moment turned into a hilarious botch.

Trick Williams further revealed that he immediately went backstage and apologized for the mistake. According to him, members of the WWE roster still tease him about the funny incident.

“And when I hit it, the microphone, he instantly said, ‘Watch out,’ you can just see the microphone just go flying into the crowd. It was hilarious, man. I was like, ‘Oh shoot,’ like about to hit somebody and then you’re right, I had to snap back into it immediately.”

“Like immediately, like I meant what I did too, Randy.”

“Yeah, a little bit. Man, I tried to learn some German and say I’m sorry real quick, but I don’t think they understood what I was saying. This is one of those moments like I knew we going to go viral tonight ‘cause I’mma smack the microphone. I didn’t think I was going to go viral like that.”
