R-Truth Reveals How His Shocking WWE Return Was Almost Ruined

R-Truth WWE

R-Truth has claimed his shocking return to WWE TV after being told he was getting let go came perilously close to not happening.

In the summer of 2025, one of the most unlikely stories in recent years set the wrestling world ablaze as WWE told R-Truth that his contract would not be extended, leaving him almost free to leave.

Truth told the world about his status, and the backlash was massive. To the point that WWE President Nick Khan was forced to intervene to sign Truth to a new contract. Truth soon returned to WWE TV at Money In The Bank, as he shockingly attacked John Cena during Cena’s tag team match, pitting him and Logan Paul against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso.

But that return almost didn’t happen.

R-Truth Left It Late For WWE Return

Speaking to Adrian Hernandez, R-Truth revealed that he almost didn’t make it to the arena in time as his return was being kept top secret:

It was Money in the Bank day. I almost didn’t make it because we were trying to keep it secret. I was that close to not making it there because of the secrecy and what we wanted to present.

If their match was at 7, I think I got there at 7:05. The match was already going. They’re like, ‘He’s got to get here now.’ It was that close, dog. I barely had time to put on my shoes, gear, and get to it. We cut it close—but in a perfect world, it was perfect.

Truth revealed that WWE even flew him into a much smaller airport to keep the surprise alive:

Kayfabe to the highest. I’m inside this dream, living this dream. I’m coming back to what I love to do. You know what I’m saying? So it was low clothes. I think somebody posted, ‘I think I saw R-Truth in the airport.’ So it was just me trying to maneuver my way, man.

I flew into Burbank—it’s a quiet airport and it’s short. Flying into LAX, dog, I get spotted. Whether it’s TMZ or anybody else, I get spotted a lot at LAX. So they flew me into Burbank. I took a car down. I mean, I’m Pooh Shiesty—you won’t see nothing on me but this right here, dog.
