Paul Heyman Lauds Roman Reigns As Wrestling’s G.O.A.T

Paul Heyman has driven home his belief that Roman Reigns is without a doubt and by most metrics the greatest wrestling star of all time.

Roman Reigns has dominated the main event scene in WWE since he appeared in his first WrestleMania main event in 2015. For many, however, the polarising star still had to find his feet at the top of the company but there is no question that Reigns has done just that since aligning himself with Paul Heyman in 2020.

Since then Reigns has dominated the company, holding the Universal Championship for over 800 days and adding the WWE Title to his collection at WrestleMania 38. All of this success came amid a backdrop of record-setting business achieved by WWE as a whole with the company reporting revenue of over a billion dollars for the first time ever in 2021.

In an interview with The Ringer, Paul Heyman wasn’t shy about where the credit should lie for WWE’s incredible revenue-generating year:

“Who’s driving these revenue numbers? It’s the top star. Now, if this was happening in ‘84, ‘85, ‘86, the credit would go to Hulk Hogan, and rightfully so. If this was happening in ‘98, ‘99, 2000, the credit would go to ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, the Rock, DX, and rightfully so. If this was happening in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, the credit would go to John Cena, and rightfully so.”

“But it’s happening now and Roman Reigns is on top of the list of attractions that WWE has to offer as completely uncontroverted, undisputed number one. There is no 1A or 1B. There’s just number one, and that number one is Roman Reigns.”

Paul Heyman went on to add that Roman Reigns is continuing to evolve despite being on top in WWE and says his case is getting more watertight for being considered wrestling’s greatest of all time:

“I would suggest that after two years of television, you knew who ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin was. After two years of television, you knew who the Rock was. After two years of television, you knew who Hulk Hogan was. After two years of television, you knew who John Cena was. After over two years of being the undisputed champion, you’re still finding out different layers of Roman Reigns.”

“I think it’s undisputed that Roman Reigns is the greatest wrestler on the face of the planet today. And I think he is constantly making the case that he’s the greatest of all time … from a performance perspective, he’s the greatest of all time. From a revenue perspective, he’s the greatest of all time.”

Roman Reigns will step into battle with the rest of The Bloodline when they step inside the WarGames cage at Survivor Series.
