Oba Femi Names Surprising WWE Star As A Mentor
Oba Femi is a former NXT Champion with a bright future in WWE.
The former 2-time WWE NXT Champion Oba Femi is somebody that the company considers to be a future main event performer on the main roster.
Clearly, Femi is somebody with all the tools to get to the top since he’s 6’5″ and 270 pounds, and an incredible athlete who has picked up the art of pro wrestling quickly in about four years.
In his current role, Femi is a free agent who will join the main roster soon as either a member of Raw or SmackDown. During a recent Raw segment, Femi easily destroyed the former World Tag Team Champions, the War Raiders – Erik and Ivar.
While many fans complained about how dominant Femi was against the War Raiders, Femi explained to No Contest Wrestling that fans will get used to the destruction caused by Femi.
“I think the main roster audience has not fully understood the concept that it’s Oba Femi. I don’t think they understand yet. They will. They’ll catch on. Oba Femi destroying the War Raiders is not a knock on the War Raiders.
That’s just how good Oba Femi is. The sooner they realize that, the sooner they understand that, the easier things will be for them.”
As he continued, Femi spoke about how Ivar helped him a lot in his WWE development. Ivar had spent time on the injured list in the past and likely was at the WWE PC training and helping younger talent, so Femi spoke about their connection.
“It was just that more special that it was him. He’s poured so much into me as a person, me as a character, my body of work. His fingerprints are all over my stuff. So I was just happy that he was part of that moment.
Even though he was at the bottom end of that moment. But that’s the kind of person he is – he knows the business, he knows what it’s about.” (H/T Wrestlingnewsco)
Oba Femi Will Be In WWE SmackDown Match
In a backstage segment on WWE SmackDown in Dallas, Oba Femi spoke with General Manager Nick Aldis, who had a contract in hand to sign Femi to the blue brand.
Kit Wilson walked in with his book of poems. Aldis read a poem about Femi saying he’s insecure and he’s not a match for a real man like Kit. Aldis read they’re laughing at Oba, who is a sad, little clown. Femi said they can have a match next week to discuss their feelings. The fans booed because they wanted it tonight. Kit said, “Toxic,” and left.
Due to that encounter, Femi will face Wilson in a match on SmackDown on February 21st that will likely go well for Femi, who should dispatch Wilson easily.
