Oba Femi has a bright future, and a former WWE Champion has given thoughts on the rising superstar.

After beating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42, Oba Femi was shockingly attacked by Lesnar on Raw a month later, even though it appeared as though Lesnar retired after the WrestleMania match.

That led to a match at WWE Clash in Italy, where Lesnar beat Femi in a WrestleMania match, giving Femi his first loss on the WWE main roster.

One day after Clash in Italy, Oba Femi won a big 4-way match on the June 1st edition of Raw to advance to the King of the Ring Semifinals.

While a potential third match with Lesnar looms in the future (perhaps at SummerSlam?), Femi is currently focused on being King of the Ring. The reward for winning King of the Ring is a shot at the World Heavyweight Champion, Roman Reigns, since Femi is on Raw with Reigns.

Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal (who now goes by his real name Raj Dhesi) appeared on Busted Open Radio to talk about how he saw Femi early in his career.

“I love Oba Femi. When I was in NXT two years ago, Oba Femi had just started training and I remember Terry Taylor telling me that this kid has a very very bright future, and at the time I didn’t see it.

But as he evolved, as he progressed, as he grew into himself as a superstar, wow. I am completely blown away.”

Jinder Mahal Wants To See More From Oba Femi As A WWE Character

There’s a lot to like about Oba Femi because he’s a guy who has won the fans over as soon as he makes his entrance and he struts to the ring. Once the bell rings, Femi is more than capable of having good matches because not only do his moves look credible, but he can take some spectacular bumps, too.

With the way Oba Femi has been presented, it is clear that WWE management is high on Femi, and they should be.

As Jinder Mahal continued to speak about Oba Femi, he said that WWE needs to tell the audience more about Femi, including his background as an athlete.

“The physicality, incredible. Really, really tremendous athlete. Strong, agile, fast. Highly coachable, I can already tell that, I don’t know that personally but the short time that he’s been wrestling, his understanding far exceeds where he should be, compared to others that I’ve seen.

The thing that I want to see the most from Oba is more of his personality, more of his struggle. I’m a story guy, I want to know about his journey from Nigeria coming to America. I believe he was a Shot Putter from college, tell me about that journey. Tell me what it was like growing up. Bring some personal elements into it.

And I do think it’s going to be brought out in due time, I think that’s the piece of the puzzle that’s missing: that true connection. The physicality’s there, the look is there, the aura is there, the promo is there.”
