NXT Star Eyeing Match With Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes has a target on his back.

Since returning to WWE, Cody Rhodes has established himself as one of the biggest stars in the entire wrestling industry. Combine that with the fact that he currently holds the Undisputed WWE Title, and he’s a man in demand, topping several dream match lists.

For example, just in the last 18 months, Rhodes has wrestled John Cena twice and clashed with The Rock, albeit in tag team action. But for one WWE star, a match with Rhodes would be something a little more personal.

NXT Star Targeting Cody Rhodes

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Ricky Saints discussed his WWE rise, friendship with Rhodes, and a potential showdown between the pair. With regard to a match, Saints unsurprisingly was all in favour, noting that a storyline would be easy to tell.

“There is so much to it. When you add a real life friendship to things and you have evidence and history of how things have gone, the story is within itself. I’m sure with time we’ll get to that point. It’s always funny to hear that as one of people’s dream matches. I’m with it, 1000%, obviously.”

During an earlier interview in September, Ricky Saints revealed that Cody Rhodes had helped him “tremendously,” both in and out of the ring. The NXT star added that his family also loves Rhodes and enjoys a strong relationship with him.

Next up for the American Nightmare is a clash with Drew McIntyre at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1. At the special in Salt Lake City, Utah, McIntyre will challenge Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

According to a recent report, the match had originally been scheduled for Survivor Series but was moved forward after Jacob Fatu was ruled unable to compete.
