WWE NXT Records Lowest Ever TV Rating for This Week’s Episode on Syfy

The July 27th episode of NXT drew the lowest TV rating in the show’s history.

However, while the rating represents a sharp fall from the previous week, there were a number of mitigating factors. The show moved from it’s usual home on the USA Network over to the Syfy Channel due to the Olympics. The episode was also pre-taped, while NXT had never previously been broadcast on the channel. The upcoming episode on August 3rd, has also already been taped.

PWTorch has reported that the black and gold brand drew 520,000 viewers and had a 0.12 rating in the 18-49 age demographic.

Wrestlenomics have given more context to the numbers, reporting that the rating for the show represented a fall of 20.5% from the week before when NXT drew 705,000 viewers. The 18-49 demo fell even further with a 40% drop-off from the previous week’s return of 0.20. That 0.20 rating ties for the brand’s lowest key demo rating with two other episodes of NXT and represents 150,000 viewers.

The rating for the show also marked a year-on-year decrease with the episode airing on the same week in 2020 drawing 17.6% fewer viewers and 14.3% fewer viewers in the 18-49 demo. It should be noted that the 2020 episode of NXT on USA aired on Wednesday night head to ahead against AEW Dynamite.

Tuesday’s show Samoa Joe hand in his resignation as William Regal’s enforcer after being choked out by Karrion Kross. Regal then named Joe as Kross’ number one contender for the NXT Championship with the two men set to face off at NXT TakeOver 36 on August 22nd.

In another shock, Dakota Kai turned her back on friend and NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez. Kai told Gonzalez that as long as she had her back then nobody could take the NXT Women’s Title away from Big Mami Cool before viciously attacking the champion from behind.
