Nick Khan Meets With Possible WWE Buyers

With rumours of a sale of WWE swirling, it has emerged that CEO Nick Khan has been meeting with some powerful potential buyers.

WWE has been in a state of flux as 2023 kicks off with major changes in the company’s boardroom. Despite his dramatic 2022 retirement, Vince McMahon has forced his way back onto the Board of Directors before being installed as Executive Chairman. Stephanie McMahon has also stepped down as Chairwoman and co-CEO leaving Nick Khan as the sole CEO of the company.

Rumours of a potential sale to the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund took hold but sources from within the company claim that these were “completely false.”

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Nick Khan wasn’t at Monday Night Raw as he was meeting with Disney CEO Bob Iger and ESPN chief Jimmy Pitaro:

“Nick Khan was in Los Angeles when I was in Los Angeles. [He] went to the football game Monday night, so he wasn’t at Raw and met with heavy hitters because they went to the College Football Championship game. Bob Iger, Jimmy Pitaro, so I guess those names will ring some bells.”

While Disney could be a potential future owner of WWE, Meltzer noted that the Saudi Arabia PIF very much remains “in the hunt.”
