New WWE Champion Suddenly Crowned
A major title has surprisingly changed hands under the WWE umbrella.
The March 18, 2026, edition of WWE EVOLVE saw Jackson Drake put his EVOLVE Championship on the line against Aaron Rourke. Drake’s Vanity Project partners, Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes, interfered during the match, but Rourke managed to survive the odds and win the gold after hitting the Molly-Go-Round.
This win means that Aaron Rourke has ended Jackson Drake’s 301-day reign as EVOLVE Champion. For those unaware, Drake defended the title 12 times overall.

As for Aaron Rourke, it kickstarts his first run as a champion in WWE. The star inspired by Lita and Trish Stratus was officially announced as a WWE ID recruit in November 2024.
Multiple other new champions could be crowned soon in WWE
The Road To WrestleMania 42 is well and truly underway. So far, five matches have been officially announced, including four title bouts. While CM Punk will put his World Heavyweight Title on the line against Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes faces an uphill battle against a heel Randy Orton in the Undisputed WWE Championship Match.
On the women’s side, Liv Morgan and Stephanie Vaquer will lock horns for the Women’s World Title at The Show of Shows. Also, Jade Cargill clashes against Rhea Ripley in a WWE Women’s Championship encounter.
More high-stakes bouts for gold are expected to be added to the card as WrestleMania 42 inches closer. It will be interesting to see which champion in the Stamford-based promotion makes their mark in 2026.
