MJF’s Worst Nightmare Comes True After AEW Star’s Shocking Turn
MJF awaited a new challenger after his 3rd AEW World Championship victory at Double Or Nothing.
However, to his surprise, his former rival Mark Briscoe staked a claim to the title, which he had never won previously.
On more than one occasion, Maxwell Jacob Friedman denied Briscoe the title shot. On the June 10 edition of AEW Dynamite, Briscoe confronted MJF again, informing him that he had President Tony Khan’s ear.
He further revealed that Khan had agreed to a 6-on-6 cage match between both teams, much to Friedman’s chagrin. If Briscoe’s team won, he would earn a future AEW World Championship match.
MJF approached Don Callis, following which Kyle Fletcher, Kevin Knight, Jake Doyle, Kazuchika Okada, and Andrade El Idolo were added to his team.
Meanwhile, Briscoe aligned with his Conglomeration stablemates Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly while also bringing Konosuke Takeshita and Darby Allin on board.
Andrade El Idolo Helps Team Briscoe Beat Team MJF At AEW Forbidden Door
The AEW Forbidden Door cage match began with all 12 wrestlers throwing hands at each other.
While MJF’s team got the early advantage, a disagreement between him and Andrade El Idolo caused them to relinquish the advantage.
Briscoe & Co., meanwhile, produced a variety of equipment, including a PlayStation and thumbtacks.
While Kyle Fletcher got busted open, he managed to put Briscoe through the tacks. MJF followed suit with Darby Allin. Takeshita and Okada continued where they left off at Double Or Nothing, exchanging blows in the center of the ring.
Shortly afterward, Kevin Knight and Darby Allin fought, which ended in Knight taking out Allin with a Coast to Coast.
Lio Rush made a brief appearance after popping out of a bag, taking out members of MJF’s team before being neutralized by Okada.
Later, Briscoe hit MJF with the Jay Driller only for Doyle to break up the pinfall. Friedman and El Idolo again got into a disagreement, leading to Andrade taking out MJF.
Andrade also wore an offensive t-shirt, signaling his departure from the Don Callis Family. Briscoe hit another Jay Driller on MJF for the victory.
