Mick Foley On Vince McMahon’s Odd Request For Famous Documentary

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has revealed the one request made by Vince McMahon to the crew of the Wrestling With Shadows documentary.

Wrestling With Shadows is a documentary feature that focuses on the life and career of Bret Hart. Unbeknownst to the crew at the time was that they would be present for the most infamous night in WWE history as they were filming backstage at Survivor Series 1997 before, during, and after the Montreal Screwjob occurred.

That was the night Bret Hart was screwed out of the WWE Championship by Vince McMahon while Hart was locked in his own Sharpshooter hold at the hands of Shawn Michaels. McMahon called for the bell to signal the end of the match despite the fact The Hitman did not submit as Hart was on his way to WCW.

Mick Foley was also present on that night and he recalled on his Foley Is Pod show that while Wrestling With Shadows captured the aftermath of the event, there was one thing Vince McMahon asked they didn’t show:

“The one thing that I think Vince asked was that [the Wrestling With Shadows film crew] not show him needing help in Bret’s film. This is the same guy who slid into the ring, somehow tore both quads, still tried to stand up, and still cut a promo after tearing both quads. He’s not a big fan of human frailty.”

“He didn’t want anyone to see him needing help like that.”

The help alluded to by Foley was a result of a punch thrown by Bret Hart at McMahon in the locker room following the night’s notorious events.
