Major WWE Title Change Was Unplanned: “That Wasn’t In The Cards”

It seems one recent major WWE title change wasn’t originally in the cards.

What Maxxine Dupri lacks in experience, she makes up for in enthusiasm. That enthusiasm saw Dupri put on stellar performances in the ring with Becky Lynch. Two matches saw Dupri pick up victories over Lynch, all without The Man’s WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship changing hands.

It was third time lucky for Dupri when she met Lynch again on Raw in Madison Square Garden as she finally captured the title.

And it seems, WWE pivoted from its original plans to make that happen.

WWE Never Planned For Maxxine Dupri Title Reign

Bayley recently held a Lodestone seminar for female talent, which featured an appearance from John Cena, who gave the assembled group the benefit of his decades of experience. In a new video released on Lodestone’s YouTube channel, Natalya addressed Maxxine Dupri’s title win and admitted that she’d heard it wasn’t originally in WWE’s plans:

When you went out for that first match against Becky and you f**king killed it, I’m sure you were nervous, but you went out there with confidence cause you had done the work. You knew exactly what you needed to do. You knew you were f**king ready. And so, it was just that moment that kind of changed everything cause I mean, I had heard a story where the storyline was going and that wasn’t in the cards.

This is an inspiring story, just so you guys know that sh*t can change and it can change in your favor so when you stay the f**k ready and you stay positive and now Sydney’s [Maxxine] got what Rhea was saying earlier, which is momentum.

Dupri has since lost the title back to Lynch and was screwed out of her chance to reclaim the title by Natalya, who viciously turned on her.
