Latest On Rhea Ripley & Jade Cargill Backstage Beef; Is WWE Concerned?
Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill finally had a face-off in the ring.
Ripley earned the right to challenge Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 42 by winning the Women’s Elimination Chamber match at the namesake PLE on February 28.
After having lost the Women’s Tag Team Championship, The Eradicator and her tag partner, IYO SKY, were featured in an emotional segment on Raw, where Ripley announced that she was headed to SmackDown to confront Cargill.
However, even before they could fight in the ring, a war had been waged online when The Storm broke kayfabe and accused the 29-year-old of politicking backstage.
Not one to respond kindly when their name was being smeared, Rhea Ripley hit back by saying Cargill had no friends, did not know how to work, and even called her a liar.
While fans wondered whether their interaction was a work or a shoot, other superstars like Piper Niven and Chelsea Green stood up for Ripley.
Since then, multiple reports have confirmed that WWE had no input into their interaction, confirming that it was indeed a shoot.
A new report from Fightful Select reveals that company officials are confident their online interaction will not affect their WrestleMania bout.
There is no concern that the two will work together.
Rhea Ripley And Jade Cargill Cut Promo On WWE SmackDown
As advertised, Rhea Ripley arrived on the blue brand on March 6 and called out the champion without wasting any time.
While fans expected a fiery verbal exchange, their promo was anything but. Instead, both women flexed their respective physiques, measuring their shoulders, biceps, and legs with their eyes.
Unfortunately, there was no reference to the persona jibes they took at each other on social media, making it a bland segment. It remains to be seen how WWE and the two superstars turn it around in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania 42.
