John Cena Addresses WWE Future On Raw

John Cena

John Cena received a hero’s welcome when he returned to Raw on Monday night and the sixteen-time champion of the world addressed his future in wrestling.

John Cena burst onto the WWE scene in an explosion of ruthless aggression as he answered Kurt Angle’s open challenge on the 27th of June 2002 edition of SmackDown. Despite a relatively slow start in the company, Cena soon put his rapping talents on display and a star was born.

Capturing his first WWE Championship at WrestleMania 21, Cena has gone on to win either that title or the World Heavyweight Championship another fifteen times, with WWE recognising the star as a record-tying champion of the world alongside Ric Flair.

To celebrate his 20th anniversary in the company, John Cena made his first return to WWE screens since SummerSlam 2021 when he was defeated by Roman Reigns on Raw. Cena was seen mingling with stars backstage throughout the night and even found himself in a confrontation with US Champion Theory who has made it known that he wants to fight Cena.

Later in the night, John Cena came out to a rapturous reception in Laredo, Texas after an introduction by Vince McMahon, while the rest of the WWE locker room lined the stage for the icon.

An emotional Cena addressed the crowd and touched on his future in the wrestling ring:

“WWE has prepared me for anything, and I mean because of you. Because of your reactions and your investment in me, you have made me a better human being. Because of you, I am a better professional. Because of you I am a better husband. Because of you I am a better person.

“Being in the WWE and spending moments with the families I spent today have taught me empathy, have taught me caring, have taught me kindness, you guys sure as hell have taught me humility. And you’ve taught me perseverance.”

“And yeah, it’s been 20 years, and yeah, I’m 45 years old. I only state that because I don’t know when you’re gonna see me in the ring again. I’m not saying you won’t, I just don’t know when that’s gonna be. So I need to say this now.

“It ain’t just gonna be one, it ain’t just gonna be one, don’t worry about it. I just don’t know when that’s gonna be so I need to say this now.

“Anything I do outside of this never just me. Just like when you chant Cena it’s not about me. It’s about us coming together; this is all about WE.

“So I am asking you tonight, I am asking you tonight. You have made me who I am today, so going forward if you see something that’s good, say something. If you see something that sucks, say something, because this has never ever been about me. This has always been about us.”

To finish he touched on his signature catchphrases as John Cena implored the WWE Universe to never give up and left a challenge hanging as he told everyone “if you want some, come get some.”

Whether anybody is going to take Cena up on those last words remains to be seen.
