John Cena Makes Groundbreaking Announcement At WWE Backlash; Introduces New Championship
John Cena’s emotional retirement at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in December last year sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling world as the face of the company hung up his boots permanently.
However, he decided to go out on the promotion by giving back to the company that gave him everything, as he asked for several NXT stars to feature on his retirement show as they faced main event stars in exciting matches.
The event featured the likes of Oba Femi, Je’Von Evans, and Sol Ruca before they made the move up to the main roster, announcing themselves to the WWE Univerese.
John Cena returned at WWE Backlash and shocked the fans
John Cena had announced a few days back that he would be present at WWE Backlash tonight and will make a ground breaking announcement at the show, and the 17-time WWE World Champion did not disappoint.
Cena announced the debut of a brand new show christened the John Cena Classic, which would build upon what was started at his retirement show last year. He announced that the John Cena Classic will see NXT stars compete with wrestlers from the main roster.
He even announced that a new championship would be introduced for the John Cena Classic and the stars will compete to be crowned the champion. Cena confirmed that he will personally be involved in the project as he looks to create stars for the future.
The biggest takeaway for the WWE Universe that he mentioned during his annoucement was that the fans will be able to have a say in the John Cena Classic as they will vote for the crowing of the new champion. This meant that even if someone lost on the night, that person can be crowned the champion if enough fans vote for him, taking into account their hustle and effort.
