John Cena Appears In New Trailer For ‘Freelance’

John Cena’s next movie role has been revealed.

Following on from his cameo appearance as “Kenmaid” in the Barbie movie, Cena will star as the lead in the upcoming action title Freelance.

The 16-time World Champion plays retired marine turned lawyer Mason Pettits, a job that is crushing his soul. Approached with the proposition of alternative work, Pettits is asked to provide security for journalist Claire Wellington [played by Alison Brie], who is scheduled to conduct an interview with dictator Juan Venegas [played by Juan Pablo Raba].

A coup breaks out in the country, forcing Pettits to protect Wellington and Venegas at all costs from assassins and the jungle itself to make it out alive. Freelance is directed by Pierre Morel, who is best known for directing the Taken franchise.

Freelance will be released in theatres on October 6th.

When Is John Cena Returning To WWE?

Carving out his own niche in Hollywood, WWE fans will always associate Cena as one of the most decorated champions in company history and main eventing WrestleMania multiple times. Following on from losing to Austin Theory at WrestleMania, the leader of the Cenation will make 2 appearances for the company in September.

As reported by Fox Sports, Cena will first appear on the September 1st episode of SmackDown following an unannounced appearance at Money in the Bank in July. Confirming the appearance on social media, the future Hall of Famer also confirmed that he will be a part of the Superstar Spectacle event the following week, wrestling in India for the first time ever.
