Jim Cornette Details Why AEW All Out Incident Can’t Be A Work
Jim Cornette isn’t buying the notion that the AEW All Out brawl could’ve been a work.
Longtime professional wrestling promoter, on-screen talent, and personality, Jim Cornette has offered up his thoughts on the post-AEW All Out brawl that occurred between CM Punk, Kenny Omega, Matt, and Nick Jackson following Punk’s controversial comments about The Elite, among other members of the AEW roster.
During a recent episode of his ‘Jim Cornette Experience‘ podcast, Cornette explained how he doesn’t believe there’s any chance that the aforementioned brawl was a work:
“Because it’s not a work and you can’t put this together where anybody benefits in any way whatsoever if it is a work, if it was a work, I should say. Again, from the Montreal Screwjob to whatever everybody wants to think that everything in wrestling is the work because 98% of everything or 99 or whatever the overwhelming statistic is is a work. But I think now people are trying to figure out a way to justify this in their own mind as being a work because it’s so ridiculous.
But that’s the thing, much as in wrestling you can find a top guy and you can put him over and you can give him wins and you can give him TV time or whatever, but a superstar the magic has to happen with the people. You know you can push him all day long but Stone Cold Steve Austin or The Rock has to happen because of the people and generally that’s accidental. You don’t book it that way, you know ‘Austin 3:16 says I just kicked your ass’ or you know ‘If you smell what The Rock is cooking.’ because f*ck you for die Rocky die or whatever, none of these things were intentional the, Screwjob wasn’t intentional.
It was seen as something that they had to get over with and get past and now they can’t get past it 25 years later. It’s the biggest thing still they’ve ever done, so you don’t book those things. And in the same way anything this ridiculous in the wrestling business I promise you was not pre planned by all parties. Now some party may have had a thought well if such and such happens I do this or whatever but no none of this was planned. Obviously it was, if it was it was the most poorly conceived and thought out and implemented f*cking work in recorded history.”
While on the topic of AEW, Cornette recently offered up a few names that WWE could be interested in that are currently under contract with AEW.
