Insight Into Where Jay White Might Sign Next

Jay White

A busy weekend in the world of wrestling also saw the apparent end of the line for Jay White in New Japan Pro Wrestling and now there has been an indication as to his likely next destination.

At New Year’s Dash, following Wrestle Kingdom 17 where Jay White lost the IWGP World Heavyweight Title to Okada, Switchblade took his frustrations out on Hikuleo, and ended up challenging the star to a Loser Leaves Japan match.

That match took place at The New Beginning in Osaka 2023 and despite White’s best efforts to win by hook or by crook, a massive chokeslam was the end as Hikuleo picked up the win, banishing Jay White from Japan.

Now things have gone from bad to worse for Switchblade as he lost at Battle In The Valley to AEW star Eddie Kingston in a match where the stipulation meant the loser could no longer wrestle for New Japan Pro Wrestling. After the bout, as White was delivering a farewell speech, he was attacked by David Finlay, who emphatically told White “f*ck your era.”

Now it has been noted in the Wrestling Observer’s Daily Update that WWE appears the likely destination for Switchblade, while it was also mentioned that a deal with AEW could have meant White would still be able to appear for NJPW so the loss to Kingston might not have been necessary:

Nobody in WWE has confirmed Jay White coming in, but they are certainly the favorite. One would think if White was going to AEW, he’d be able to work big shows with New Japan and would continue to do so, but they wouldn’t do the loser leaves for good stipulation.”

Battle In The Valley may have been the end for Jay White in NJPW but it was the beginning for Mercedes Mone who captured the IWGP Women’s Championship from KAIRI.
