Huge Bryan Danielson Match Confirmed For Forbidden Door

Bryan Danielson

Former WWE Champion Bryan Danielson is in for one of the toughest nights of his life at Forbidden Door as he will be part of a huge dream match.

Following Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Tomohiro Ishii defeating Danielson’s Blackpool Combat Club colleagues Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli as well as Shota Umino at Dominion, The American Dragon had a message for The Rainmaker.

Danielson told Okada that he might be the man that makes the rain but he intended to take him to the desert at Forbidden Door on June 25th.

Now at a special press conference held by New Japan Pro Wrestling, the match has been made official for Forbidden Door as two of the best in the world are set to do battle for the first time ever.

Speaking at the press conference, Kazuchika Okada noted that he’s planning on winning the bout for NJPW:

“Last year I wrestled at Forbidden Door, but it was against Jay White, Adam Cole and Hangman Page, people I’d wrestled before. this time, it’s against someone new, and a big AEW star, so I’m looking forward to it. But this is a battle of NJPW vs AEW, so I plan on carrying NJPW on my shoulders and winning for the company and the New Japan fans.”

Okada then admitted that he hadn’t followed much of Bryan Danielson’s career in WWE or AEW and doesn’t know exactly what type of wrestler he’s facing:

“To be honest, I haven’t really taken in Bryan’s work in AEW or WWE, so I’m not sure I can say with certainty exactly the kind of wrestler he is. But that’s why I’m looking forward to this. I know that he isn’t the tallest guy, isn’t the biggest either, but he’s been able to be a big star in those companies, and be right at the top as a champion. So that shows how good he is in the ring, and how much charisma he has to boot.

“In Osaka Jo Hall, there were those ‘yes’ chants that showed how far his name has traveled. Fans who don’t watch American wrestling still know who he is, and that says a lot. I’m looking forward to facing him, and I look forward to getting the win.”

The press conference also saw Will Ospreay’s match at Forbidden Door made official as he will challenge Kenny Omega for the IWGP US Championship.
