Huge AEW NJPW Match In Jeopardy

A huge dream match that was in the works for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is in serious doubt with one participant battling injury.

At Double Or Nothing on May 29th, Bryan Danielson took part in the first-ever Anarchy In The Arena match where he teamed with Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz against The Jericho Appreciation Society. Danielson lost the match for his side as the referee called for the bell with Danielson trapped in the Walls of Jericho while Jake Hager simultaneously choked him out.

Bryan Danielson has not been seen on AEW television since and he recently missed an advertised meet and greet due to an undisclosed injury.

Meanwhile, one of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s top stars Zack Sabre Jr. has his sights firmly set on Danielson, issuing something of a challenge to the Blackpool Combat Club member following Dominion:

“Have you got time to take out of your busy schedule golfing with the Blackpool Country Club to find out who the best wrestler in the world is?”

The match was expected to take place at Forbidden Door on June 26th but Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio thinks it’s a case of Wednesday or never for Danielson if the match is going to go ahead:

“He was not cleared on Wednesday of last week. […] He’s either going to be on the show this coming Wednesday or I would go and say it’s unlikely they’ll have the match (at Forbidden Door vs ZSJ).”
