How Close Seth Rollins Really Is To WWE Retirement
Seth Rollins has revealed his thoughts on retirement as he battles back after another tough injury.
2025 was the year of retirements in WWE, with John Cena dominating the year with his final run in the ring. Cena’s legendary career came to an end at Saturday Night’s Main Event when he meekly tapped out to Gunther while trapped in The Ring General’s sleeper hold.
Gunther had already seen off WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg in his final match in the summer. The retirement theme has carried on into 2026, with AJ Styles now putting his career on the line against Gunther at the Royal Rumble. But the outcome of that match might have already been spoiled by another WWE star.
Seth Rollins Not Looking To Retire
Speaking on ESPN’s First Take, Seth Rollins gave his own thoughts on when he might look to hang up his boots, and it seems he’s got a lot left in the tank:
I am about 22 years deep in this wrestling thing, and I think I’m probably closer to the end than the beginning. However, I’m still under 40, and I feel like I’ve got a lot of years left. I feel like I’m really just in the middle of my prime right now. The physical hasn’t declined, and mentally, I’m as sharp as I’ve ever been. So there’s a lot left in the Seth Rollins tank.
Seth Rollins was forced to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship in late 2025 due to injury. This is far from the first time Rollins has been forced to miss a chunk of time from the ring because he’s been hurt. In November 2016, Rollins was forced to vacate the WWE Championship after suffering a serious knee injury that cost him seven months of his career.
