Tony Khan Gives Update On Hangman Page & Adam Cole, “Optimistic” For Their Returns

Hangman Adam Page

Two of AEW’s biggest names have been out of action for an extended period of time, but there is a reason for optimism for the returns of “Hangman” Adam Page and Adam Cole, according to Tony Khan.

The last time former AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page was in the AEW ring was on a special Tuesday edition of Dynamite on October 18th. Page was challenging Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title on that night.

During the match, Page ran at Moxley, who hit him with a running clothesline and Page did a flip bump where he landed on his head/neck. The bump is something a lot of wrestlers have done for many years and will continue to do to make a clothesline look more impressive, but it was a reminder that it is a tough business where sometimes things go wrong. The match was stomped, Page was taken out on a stretcher and it was diagnosed as a serious concussion.

As for Adam Cole, he has had an extended absence from the ring going back to June’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view. It’s also a serious concussion and since it’s been nearly five months, there is a lot of concern about it. In the latest Wrestling Observer by Dave Meltzer, he wrote that there was a lot of concern for Cole.

“Adam Cole’s situation was never asked about, but it’s very concerning since he’s been out since 6/26 in the four-way IWGP title match with Adam Page, Jay White and Kazuchika Okada. A number of people have brought up being very concerned for him.”

Following the Full Gear pay-per-view, AEW Owner/President/General Manager Tony Khan was asked about the health of Hangman Page and Adam Cole. Khan expressed optimism regarding both men without offering a specific timeline for when they might return to the ring.

“I’ve been in contact with both of them, both of them are doing very well. Again, they’re different situations but for both of them I’m optimistic we can get both of them back but I can’t say when either of them [returning] would be exactly. But I do think they will both be very well received and there’s a lot of fans looking forward to the return of the Adams. I think Hangman Page and Adam Cole both have a big perception upon their return and the most important thing is that both of them are doing really well.”

Best of luck to Page and Cole as they continue to recover.
