Ex-WWE Star On Scary Incident During Drew McIntyre Match: “I Got Lucky”
Former WWE star Mike Rallis (fka Riddick Moss) considers himself “lucky” to have avoided a nasty neck injury during his match against Drew McIntyre.
Moss was released from WWE in September 2023, along with his wife, Tenille Dashwood (fka Emma).
On February 19, 2022, Moss faced Drew McIntyre in a Falls Count Anywhere match at Elimination Chamber in the Jeddah Super Dome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In the closing moments of the match, Drew hit him with a reverse Alabama Slam, and he landed awkwardly on his neck. Thankfully, he didn’t sustain a serious injury.
Riddick Moss recalled the incident in a new interview with O’Hara & Friends Wrestling, stating that he felt fine after taking Drew’s reverse Alabama Slam, but everyone around him was very concerned for him.
Referee Jessica Carr, commentator Corey Graves, and his then tag team partner Baron Corbin all looked absolutely worried after he took that bump.
“It was towards the end of the match, I knew the move didn’t go right but I felt fine. Right away the ref, Jess (Jessika Carr), came to check on me, she was like ‘Are you ok?’ I was like ‘Yeah, yeah I’m fine.’ And then she went back, talked to the back and said ‘Yeah, he says he’s ok, and I saw her go ‘Are you sure?’ They were like ‘Check him a few times.’
“I remember (Baron) Corbin said that he was on the outside going ‘Oh my god, I’m going to have to finish this match. What do I need to do?’ And then I just was fine and we kept going.”
Ex-WWE Star Riddick Moss Says Risking Serious Injury To Complete A Match Is “Not Worth It”
Riddick Moss said that although he didn’t get injured and only had neck soreness afterwards, he still got his neck checked out to be on the safe side. He added that if he had gotten injured at the time, he wouldn’t have continued the match because it was not worth risking a serious injury.
“I had a sore neck afterwards. There was no damage or anything. I know I was on the outside and Drew was throwing me over the announce table or something, and I heard Corey Graves say ‘I don’t even know how he’s walking right now.’ And I thought, ‘Hmm, maybe that was a little worse than I thought.’
“And then I got to the back and I was like ‘Guys, I’m fine I swear,’ and they showed me the high def frame by frame where my neck just crunched, and I was like ‘Alright, let’s go check this thing out’ because that was nasty, and I need to call my mom to make sure she knows I’m ok, cuz yeah that was disgusting. In the moment it wasn’t that bad.”
“I got lucky. It ended up being a reputational boost for me. But really, anytime I talk about it I want to stress, if I was hurt, it wouldn’t have been cool or smart of me to go on and keep performing. Like if you are hurt it’s not worth it. If you do have a concussion, if you do have a neck injury where something isn’t feeling right, whether it’s sport or wrestling, you can always work around that injury, it’s not worth it.”
