Ex-WWE Official “Celebrated” John Laurinaitis’ Firing

A former legendary WWE referee has admitted that they celebrated the firing of John Laurinaitis by WWE and say they’d “probably kick his ass” if they saw Laurinaitis again.

Earl Hebner was WWE’s senior official in the ring for many years before he and his twin brother Dave were fired by the company in 2005.

Hebner was introduced to WWE fans via the angle that saw Ted DiBiase pay off a referee to apparently have plastic surgery to look like Dave Hebner in order to steal the WWE Title away from Hulk Hogan. However, Hebner’s time in WWE is probably best remembered for his part in the Montreal Screwjob that took place at Survivor Series 1997.

Speaking at an online signing K&S WrestleFest, Earl Hebner was asked about the firing of former Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis who was implicated in the same scandal that led to the retirement of Vince McMahon. It’s fair to say that Hebner shed no tears for ‘Johnny Ace’:

“I celebrated. I hated him and I still hate him … He abused his power to everybody. He was two-faced and has always been — he’ll laugh, smile at you, and stab you in the back.”

Earl Hebner followed that up by saying that if he saw Laurinaitis again he’d “probably kick his ass.”
