Ex-WWE Champion Admits He Always Expects To Be Released
Former WWE Champion The Miz worries about being released.
Miz has had a highly decorated WWE career (2-time WWE Champion, 8-time Intercontinental Champion, 2-time United States Champion, multi-time Tag Team Champion, and 2-time Money in the Bank winner).
But in recent years, he has been used more as a lower mid-card talent and jobber. He frequently appears in matches where he loses, often to rising stars or main-eventers, to help put them over.
His matches are often short, squash-style bouts or multi-man tags where he gets pinned or submits, and is rarely in the world title picture anymore, or booked as a serious threat in singles competition. His current role in WWE is more about giving credibility to others than being a top guy himself.
The Miz Fears WWE Release
Miz recently sat down for an interview with Chris Van Vliet on his Insight podcast, where he was asked if he ever felt that his time in WWE was over after he saw many of his friends and colleagues get released from the company in the past few years.
Chris: You’ve been there so long that you’ve seen so many of your friends, so many of your colleagues get released. Did you ever think that maybe that call was coming for you?
Miz: Yeah, honestly, every time there’s a release, I’m like, Oh no, is it me?
Thank you to Chris Van Vliet for the transcription.
