Ex-United States Champion: “[Elon Musk] Would Be A Great Owner For WWE”
The wrestling world has recently been buzzing with a rumor claiming that Elon Musk could buy WWE.
The speculation began in January 2026 when several unverified social media posts claimed that Musk was in the early stages of discussions to purchase the company.
Speaking during a recent interview on the Rewind Recap Relive podcast, former United States Champion Matt Riddle shared his thoughts on the rumor.
Matt Riddle Believes WWE Would Run Smoother Under Elon Musk
Riddle stated that, in his opinion, Elon Musk would be a great owner for the Stamford-based promotion. He added that the company could run more smoothly under Musk’s leadership.
Matt sadi, “With TKO, I don’t know. I think they are too business-focused. But then again, I heard a rumor that Elon Musk might buy WWE. Hey I like the Musk. People give him a hard time, I feel like, he’s just, he’s highly intelligent.”
“He speaks a little robotic, but I think it’s because he gives himself time to think about his answer and the question. And I think, I think he would be a great owner for WWE. I think it would, I guarantee it would run smoother and I think he probably wouldn’t be hiring a bunch of people that can’t work.”
However, Elon Musk buying the Stamford-based promotion remains only an online rumor, and there are currently no credible reports confirming such a deal. WWE is currently owned by TKO Group Holdings, the parent company formed after the merger of WWE and Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Another rumor circulating online claims that Saudi Arabia could be interested in buying the Stamford-based promotion from TKO, but there has also been no official confirmation regarding that claim.
