A huge match has been announced for the next edition of WWE Raw with Edge challenging Austin Theory for the US Title.

Two winners from the WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event will have a match on the February 20 episode of Raw in Ottawa, Ontario (the capital city of Canada) after comments made during the post-Elimination Chamber press conference.

Edge teamed up with his wife Beth Phoenix to reform the “Grit Couple” team of WWE Hall of Famers for a grudge match against The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor & Rhea Ripley. Edge & Beth picked up the win with Rated R Superstar hitting a Spear on Balor after Beth hit a Glam Slam on Ripley on the floor.

Austin Theory retained the US Title in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match against Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Johnny Gargano, Bronson Reed, Montez Ford and Damian Priest. Theory won thanks to Logan Paul showing up to attack Rollins after the cage door was open to take Ford out of the ring. Theory hit his A-Town Down finishing move on Rollins for the win.

During the post-WWE Elimination Chamber press conference, Austin Theory issued a US Title Open Challenge for his title on Monday’s Raw. After Theory’s challenge, Edge & Beth were up at the press conference with Edge saying he would accept the challenge with the Canadian legend Edge noting that he hasn’t wrestled in Ottawa in many years.

The preview from WWE’s website looks like this:

After overcoming five other competitors in the Elimination Chamber Saturday, United States Champion Austin Theory announced he wanted to face a worthy opponent during the WWE Elimination Chamber Press Conference.

As Raw is emanating from Ottawa, native Canadian Edge was quick to accept Theory’s challenge. Incidentally, The Rated-R-Superstar also won his match at WWE Elimination Chamber.

Can Theory add another legend to his ledger, or will Edge put the brash young Superstar in his place?

Don’t miss Raw this Monday at 8/7 C on USA!

What’s interesting about the match also is that while Edge has won nearly every title there is to win (including 11 World Title wins) in WWE along with other accolades, he never won the US Title before. The 2012 WWE Hall of Famer will have that opportunity this Monday on Raw in Ottawa.

The WrestleMania 39 plan for Theory appears to be a match against the legendary future WWE Hall of Famer John Cena. The match is considered confirmed on WWE’s end. Whether it’s a US Title match at WrestleMania will depend on if Theory can hold the title all the way until WrestleMania 39 in six weeks.
