There is an update on AEW’s Don Callis following a bizarre attack at AAA TripleMania when one man took things a little too far.

A bizarre incident occurred at AAA TripleMania this past Saturday night in Tijuana.

The main event of AAA TripleMania XXXI saw El Hijo del Vikingo defeat AEW’s Kenny Omega to retain the AAA Mega Championship. Don Callis tried to be ringside for the match to support Vikingo and be against Omega, but Konnan showed up to tell Callis he had to go to the back. It was a clean win for Vikingo.

There was a post-show press conference outdoors where Kenny Omega was confronted by Don Callis, which led to Konosuke Takeshita attacking Omega to continue their AEW rivalry. It was just an angle. That’s when Callis was randomly attacked by somebody that didn’t like what was going on.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer/F4W reported that Don Callis was attacked by a fan from behind at the press conference.

“Everything was an angle up to that point, but then a fan who was apparently upset about what Don had said to Kenny jumped Don from behind, ripped his suit, concussed his eardrum and busted open his mouth while he was trying to choke out Don from behind. Don was screaming profanities at the fan before he was pulled off, and was said to be livid afterwards.”

In an update on the situation, PWInsider reports that the person who took Callis down was not a fan. There were said to be no fans in the vicinity of the area where the attack angle was filmed. The report from PWInsider notes that the guy that attacked Callis was a member of the security team that was likely not told about the angle, so he took Callis down. The report notes that Callis is “not believed to have been injured.”

You can see what happened in the video below. Callis reacted to the security guy taking him down by saying: “‘What the f**k is going on here? Jesus Christ!”

There is another update on situation from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, who noted that Callis should be fine.

“He’s okay. He got hurt but he’s okay, I don’t think he has any major injuries, nothing that’s going to keep him from being at Blood and Guts in Boston on Wednesday. Based on what I last heard today was that he’s hurt but okay.”

Kenny Omega will step into the double cage during the AEW Blood & Guts match this coming Wednesday as he teams with The Elite’s “Hangman” Adam Page, Nick Jackson, Matt Jackson & Kota Ibushi against The Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta and their partners Konosuke Takeshita and Pac. Don Callis will likely be present at the match to support the BCC guys and especially Takeshita, who Callis has been linked to for months.
