Dominik Mysterio Survives AJ Styles At WWE SummerSlam
Dominik Mysterio retained his Intercontinental Championship at WWE SummerSlam with a creative plan.
Dominik Mysterio and AJ Styles were scheduled to go head-to-head for the Intercontinental Championship at Night of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, the match was canceled due to Dirty Dom suffering a rib injury.
While The Phenomenal One demanded his title match over the next few weeks, the Intercontinental Champion avoided any physicality with his rival, hiding behind a doctor’s note claiming he was not cleared to compete.
Nevertheless, Styles continued to chase Mysterio until RAW General Manager Adam Pearce forced the latter to undergo a medical examination, which revealed he was fit to defend the title at SummerSlam.
The two superstars clashed tonight at The Biggest Party of the Summer in a match that saw both superstars steal pages from Eddie Guerrero’s playbook.
The fight ended in Dirty Dom’s victory after the latter tricked his opponent by loosening his boot, which led to Styles failing to apply the calf crusher. The Judgment Day member then used his boot to knock out his opponent before delivering a frog splash to pin The Phenomenal One and retain his title.
Did that really just happen?! 👀

Dominik Mysterio Is Set To Fight For Another Title After WWE SummerSlam
The Judgment Day member recently made a surprise appearance on Lucha Libre AAA to attack Hijo Del Vikingo and Dragon Lee. El Grande Americano then took out Hijo Del Vikingo outside the ring before retreating.
The four stars are now set to clash in a four-way match for the AAA Mega Championship at Triplemania XXXIII on August 16 in Mexico City.
According to a recent report from WrestleVotes, WWE is considering putting the title on Dominik Mysterio. It would be interesting to see if that would happen.
