Dax Harwood On What Vince McMahon Said After Tag Team Title Win

One of Vince McMahon’s comments made to FTR when they were in WWE has made them question their wrestling futures.

Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler wrestled for WWE as The Revival back when Vince McMahon was still in charge. After wrestling on NXT for several years, they were called up to the main roster, only for their fortunes to change to a degree.

Although they won championship gold when they beat The New Day for the SmackDown Tag Titles, they weren’t given the praise they think they deserved.

Speaking on his FTR with Dax Podcast, Dax Harwood explained that Vince McMahon treated them differently compared to The New Day. After the title match, Vince thanked The New Day first and spoke to them warmly. But when it came to greeting the new champions, it was a different story.

“We come to the back and Vince is there waiting for us, off his headsets. And I’m hoping that since he’s off his headsets, he’s gonna tell us ‘That was incredible. That was a great job. That was storytelling.’ Right? So he comes to us, he goes to New Day and says ‘Hey guys, great job. Thank you. I appreciate it.’

“They walk off, he leaves me and Cash there. And that’s when he says ‘Everyone tells me that you guys are the next great tag team. Everyone tells me you’re the next Arn and Tully. Well that’s your problem. You are the next Arn and Tully. You’re just great wrestlers. That’s all.’ And he walks off.”

Although it wasn’t an overt insult or anything particularly scathing, Dax took that as a sign that Vince McMahon wasn’t one of The Revival’s supporters. As such, when April rolls around and FTR’s AEW contracts expire, both of them expect big money offers from both AEW and WWE.

At the same time, how Vince McMahon fits into this entire situation will be a major factor in whether FTR stay where they are now or go back to WWE.
