Time for Cody Rhodes’ Return Predicted by WWE Personality
Cody Rhodes was written off WWE television following a brutal on-screen attack by Drew McIntyre during the August 8, 2025, episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
The Scottish Psychopath viciously assaulted The American Nightmare with a championship belt, followed by a devastating Claymore Kick on the announcetable. This storyline hit a fever pitch as both old tag team partners have turned bitter rivals, with McIntyre challenging Rhodes’ hold on the WWE Undisputed Championship.
Off-screen, Cody Rhodes is busy filming for the upcoming Street Fighter movie reboot, where he stars as iconic character Guile, known for his distinct flat-top haircut. This project explains Rhodes’ absence from wrestling screens as he balances acting commitments with his wrestling career.
When Will Cody Rhodes Return To Action?
On Notsam Wrestling, WWE analyst Sam Roberts speculated about Cody Rhodes’ imminent return and potential storyline developments. Roberts suggested the Undisputed WWE Champion could make his comeback during a match between Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre (who teased a feud on the 08/22 SmackDown), possibly at Clash in Paris or on the Friday after the PLE.
Logan Paul might interfere on McIntyre’s behalf during the match, leaving room for Rhodes to get involved, either assisting Orton or disrupting the match like CM Punk’s interference with LA Knight during the latter’s match with Seth Rollins.
Roberts believes this return would be about Cody Rhodes seeking revenge against Drew McIntyre and would not necessarily revolve around a title bout, allowing Orton to accept the intrusion without conflict.
I think that Randy versus Drew will be the match that happens when Cody returns. Cody will somehow, I don’t know if Logan Paul interferes on Drew’s behalf. Maybe this happens the week after Clash in Paris, the Friday after. That way, Logan is kind of done with John Cena; he can go back to helping Drew McIntyre. I mean, Logan Paul. Yeah, he’s done with John Cena.
He can go back to helping Drew McIntyre, and then or not, you know, whatever. Drew McIntyre is just doing some kind of cheating, and Cody comes back to help Randy Orton. You know, Cody returns.
Either Cody returns to help Randy Orton, or Cody does to Randy basically what Punk did to LA Knight, which is jump into the match, you know, cause a no contest, but get his revenge on Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton’s not going to be that mad about it because it’s not a title match, just a match with Drew McIntyre.
