Cody Rhodes has made a heartbreaking announcement regarding his WWE career.

The American Nightmare kicked off his professional wrestling career 20 years ago. After spending a decade in the Stamford-based company, the second-generation superstar left in 2016.

The former Undisputed WWE Champion went on to find significant success on the independent circuit, in TNA, and in Japan before helping launch AEW in 2019.

Following a three-year run in Tony Khan’s promotion, Rhodes left AEW to return to WWE, where he became the new face of the Stamford-based company.

Cody Rhodes Will End His WWE Career After His Next Contract

In a recent interview with ESPN’s Unsportsmanlike, Cody Rhodes addressed his future. The American Nightmare pointed out that he plans on ending his career in WWE.

Meanwhile, he dropped a bombshell, announcing that his next contract will be his final one.

I don’t have an end date like I used to. I do know that whatever the next deal that I sign with WWE, I ain’t going nowhere, that next deal will be the last. Wrestling’s so unique in terms of it’s hard to determine your time. Especially in 2026, with the level of athlete that you can grow to be. Look at what Brock [Lesnar] is doing currently at this level, he’s in peak form. Roman [Reigns], older, peak form. [CM] Punk, Punk is the best he’s ever been. So age is really not what it used to be in the industry. [H/T: WrestlingNewsCo]
