Chris Jericho Not Surprised By CM Punk’s WWE Return

Chris Jericho CM Punk

Chris Jericho and CM Punk have done battle in the past but it looks like they won’t be back in the ring together after Punk returned to WWE.

CM Punk shocked the world when he returned to WWE at Survivor Series less than three months after he was fired by AEW for his part in a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In.

AEW boss Tony Khan has said he’s not legally allowed to discuss CM Punk but that does not apply to others in the company and Chris Jericho has now had his say on Punk returning to the company he walked out on in 2014.

Vince McMahon’s Influence Felt In CM Punk WWE Return Says Chris Jericho

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on his Insight podcast, Chris Jericho explained why Vince McMahon’s influence over WWE and those running the show means he wasn’t surprised to see CM Punk return:

I mean it doesn’t surprise me. It’s the Vince attitude like if you can make money with somebody then you bring them back.

He brought back the nWo, he brought Bischoff in. And Vince isn’t in charge. But Triple H learned from Vince once again and the fans – keeping the fans entertained and happy – man look, he came back and it was the highest viewed social media segment that they’ve ever had. So right out of the gate, it was a benefit to them. So it didn’t surprise me.

Chris Jericho has been in and out of WWE over the years but his last run full-time run in the company came to an end in July 2017. Many believe he will eventually return to that world if for nothing else an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.
