Chris Jericho Achieves First At AEW Grand Slam

Chris Jericho

Just when you think Chris Jericho has done it all in his thirty-plus years in the wrestling business, he made a little more history at AEW Grand Slam Dynamite.

In New York City Chris Jericho went one-on-one with Ring Of Honor World Champion Claudio Castagnoli with the Swiss star’s title on the line at Grand Slam.

Castagnoli has held the ROH Championship since July when he defeated Jonathan Gresham at the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view but Jericho has his sights set on reaffirming himself as Le Champion once again.

In a near fifteen-minute match, Chris Jericho managed to overcome Castagnoli to capture the Ring of Honor World Championship for the first time in his career. As a result, Jericho becomes the first star to have held the ROH, AEW, WWE, and WCW World Championships.

A small caveat in Chris Jericho’s impressive record is that his WCW World Title win did not come during his time in that company but instead came in WWE when he won the title from The Rock at 2001’s No Mercy event.

Regardless of that, the ROH World Title is now considered the 8th world championship victory of Chris Jericho’s legendary career and means that The Jericho Appreciation Society is now home to two of Ring of Honor’s championships.
