Chelsea Green Was Legitimately Unhappy With Last-Minute WWE Creative Decision

WWE star Chelsea Green

Chealse Green was upset with her WWE Women’s United States Championship loss.

Green lost the WWE Women’s United States Championship to Zelina Vega on the April 25, 2025, episode of Friday Night SmackDown. That match ended Chelsea Green’s first reign at roughly five months as the inaugural champion.

Netflix released the second season of WWE: Unreal on January 20. In the new season, Green revealed she was only told a couple of hours before her match with Zelina Vega on SmackDown that she would be dropping the belt. She described it as a surprise given how strong she felt her reign had been.

“It’s been the greatest five months of my career, honestly. But I get to work, and something has changed. I found out a couple of hours before showtime that I was dropping the title to Zelina Vega. And I just felt like this wasn’t it. This wasn’t what I imagined. I thought we were going to have a longer run. I thought we were going to do more.”

Chelsea Green Wanted To Do More With Her US Title Reign

Chelsea Green was genuinely upset when WWE creative told her about her scheduled title loss because she had planned many things to do with her title reign. But instead of acting out or showing any negative emotion, she behaved professionally and took the news like a champ.

At the end of the day, I had so much more planned for that reign, and that was really upsetting, especially with it being sprung on me like that. It can go one of two ways. You can react out of emotion and be angry. I refused to let that happen because this is not real life. So the conversation goes, ‘You’re losing the title,’ and I go, ‘Okay!’”
