Charlotte Flair Names WWE’s Fifth Horsewoman

Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair thinks another WWE superstar should be considered a Horsewoman.

It was over a decade in NXT when the “Four Horsewomen” name was mentioned to describe Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks (aka Mercedes Mone in AEW), and Bayley.

When those four women joined the main roster in the summer of 2015, and a little later for Bayley, they went on to dominate there as well. They built legacies that will likely lead to all four women being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame one day, and all of them will be considered among the greatest female superstars in wrestling history.

Despite their shared history, Charlotte Flair admitted in a recent Players’ Tribune article that it doesn’t necessarily mean they are close friends.

We’ve definitely had our ups and downs over the years. I won’t pretend we’re best friends…… or that we’re all even friends at the moment. I won’t pretend there’s a 4HW group chat I’ll send this article to when it publishes. And thinking about it that way, it does make me sad sometimes.

Flair went on to write about the respect that the four women had for eachother.

The respect between the four of us is absolute — and the bonds we share are f***ing indestructible. There’s not another person alive who knows what we’ve been through as a group, or what it’s taken for us to all still be active, and to all still be at the top of our games, as women working in a business that’s still learning how to treat women.

Charlotte Flair Considers Alexa Bliss A WWE “Horsewoman”

Alexa Bliss was a part of NXT at the same time as Charlotte, Becky, Sasha and Bayley. Bliss also made it to the main roster at around the same time as the rest of them. However, Bliss wasn’t considered a top prospect like the others, but she was able to overcome that, and despite being a smaller woman, Bliss is also a future WWE Hall of Famer with five Women’s Titles to her credit.

Charlotte Flair told USA Today that she considered Bliss to be the “fifth Horsewoman.” When speaking of Bliss, Flair said the following:

“Don’t tell her this, but I adore her.”

At WWE Evolution on July 13th, Flair and Bliss will team up in a four-way match for the Women’s Tag Team Title match. They will compete against champions Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez, along with NXT’s Sol Ruca & Zaria, and Raw’s Asuka & Kairi Sane.

In their current storyline on the SmackDown brand, Charlotte Flair maintains that she isn’t friends with Alexa Bliss, but they have the same goal of winning the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Flair did her best to explain their team’s dynamic.

“I think trying to blend the two will just add layers to the queen that we’ve seen so stoic for so many years. Pushing myself to get outside of my comfort zone of what the queen is and what does that look like? Is it the mad queen? Is it the killer queen? Is it the unraveled queen? Is it best friends with Lexi and being a twisted queen?”

You can watch Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss team up at WWE Evolution on Sunday, July 13, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, streaming live on Peacock in the United States and on Netflix everywhere else.
