Former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar stunned the wrestling world in his home state of Minnesota on Friday night as he made his WWE return on SmackDown.
On an action-packed episode of Friday Night SmackDown that saw a defiant Vince McMahon open the show despite stepping back as WWE Chairman amid allegations of serious misconduct, it was Brock Lesnar who stole the headlines come the end of the show.
In the main event, Riddle got his chance to become WWE Universal Champion as he took on the unified champion, Roman Reigns. The former MMA star threw everything he had at The Tribal Chief but as Riddle tried to come off the middle rope with a springboard, Reigns was waiting with a vicious spear to claim the victory and retain his two belts.
Roman Reigns took to the microphone after the bout, demanding that Minneapolis acknowledge him. Unfortunately for Reigns, one of the Twin City’s favourite sons was about to do exactly that.
Brock Lesnar’s music hit and The Beast Incarnate emerged in a WWE arena for the first time since WrestleMania 38 to a raucous ovation. Lesnar initially extended his hand to Roman Reigns and as Reigns went to shake it Lesnar pulled him in and nailed him with an F5.
Once SmackDown was off the air WWE announced that Brock Lesnar will challenge Roman Reigns once again in a Last Man Standing match at SummerSlam.
