Booker T Reveals Best Run Of His Career

Booker T with his Court

Booker T has opened up on what he believes was the best run of his entire Hall of Fame career.

During the most recent edition of his ‘Hall of Fame’ podcast, Booker T looked back on some of the high points of his 26-year career and discussed the upcoming WWE Hall of Fame induction of his wife, Sharmell.

The two met in the late 1990’s when they both worked for WCW. After departing WCW, Sharmell signed with WWE where she was training to become a full-time in-ring performer. However, her wrestling career was over before it really began after she suffered a serious knee injury.

Despite this, she eventually joined the main roster as a valet for her real-life husband Booker T. After the multi-time World Champion was crowned the 2006 King of the Ring, the pair became known as “King Booker” and “Queen Sharmell.” The couple remained together on-screen until they left WWE in 2007, later reappearing in TNA.

Speaking about Sharmell’s career, Booker T explained that Vince McMahon was one of Vince McMahon’s favourites.

“The thing is, Sharmell was one of Vince’s favourites. He definitely always loved Sharmell’s work,” he claimed. “And I think Sharmell even more so than myself. You know a couple, and you think they like you, you think the people around you like you. Then you realize later on in life, just say for instance, you and your wife got divorced, and none of those guys like you anymore.

“You realize they liked your wife a whole lot more than they actually liked you. I’m serious. I think Sharmell has always had that effect with people, man. Everybody has always loved Sharmell for what she has brought to the table more than anything. She’s always been genuine, it’s no play-acting with Sharmell.”

The Hal of Famer went on to say that the run as “King Booker” was the best of his career.

“The wrestling side didn’t turn out for her because she blew her knee out down there training in the WWE at OVW. Then, of course, the creation of King Booker. I tell people all the time, that was my best run, that was my most fun run in the business.

“None of it would ever have happened if it wasn’t for Sharmell. Because the King of the Ring tournament was not built for me to become the greatest king in the history of the King of the Ring tournament. It wasn’t built for that at all. It was built around Sharmell, and I had a moment there.”

Sharmell will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Booker T as part of the Class of 2022 which also includes The Undertaker and Vader.
