Becky Lynch Hid Emotions During Special WWE TV Moment
Becky Lynch didn’t want to break character during a WWE SmackDown moment.
For most of the past year, Becky Lynch has been one of the top heels in the women’s division. She had a lengthy feud with Lyra Valkyria over the Women’s Intercontinental Title in the summer of 2025.
Later in 2025 and into the start of 2026, Becky Lynch feuded with Maxxine Dupri over the Women’s Intercontinental Title, culminating in Lynch winning the title back from Dupri on the first Raw of 2026.
This past Monday on WWE Raw in London, Becky Lynch retained her title against Maxxine Dupri thanks to a surprising assist by Natalya, who turned heel on Dupri during the match.
Becky Lynch Was Emotional When WWE Went To Dublin
The future WWE Hall of Famer Becky Lynch is from Ireland, so when WWE brought SmackDown there last August 22nd, it was a big deal for Lynch. The fans cheered Lynch when she first appeared to open the show, but then she turned on them, saying she wanted the show cancelled because the fans in Dublin don’t deserve WWE TV.
While speaking with The Irish Sun, Lynch admitted that while she had to play the heel on television, it was an emotional moment for her.
“They used a lot of profanity. They may have said, ‘Shut the F up.’ But they didn’t say ‘F.’ They said the other word.
I came out with sunglasses. You couldn’t tell that, behind those sunglasses, there was tears in my eyes that this huge moment that I had always wanted had finally happened, and to hear the response from the crowd, to be the first woman to walk out there while we were live on SmackDown, was absolutely incredible.
And then beyond that, I got to tell them everything that I really thought and how they didn’t deserve it and they didn’t appreciate me, and that felt even better.”
During Season 2 of WWE Unreal on Netflix, Becky Lynch praised her former on-screen rival Lyra Valkyria by calling her “the future” of WWE.
