“Ask All Of My Exes” — AJ Lee Makes Personal Confession Before WWE Elimination Chamber
AJ Lee opened up on a major decision ahead of her WWE Elimination Chamber match against Becky Lynch.
The Black Widow returned to the Stamford-based company last September after nearly a decade of absence. She has since been involved in a feud with The Man.
After she and her husband, CM Punk, emerged victorious in a mixed tag team match against Lynch and Seth Rollins at Wrestlepalooza, Lee scored another victory over The Man as he team won the Women’s WarGames match at Survivor Series.
The former Divas Champion is now set to compete in her first singles match in nearly 11 years when she challenges Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Title at Elimination Chamber in Chicago.
AJ Lee Opens Up About Her WWE Return
In an exclusive interview with Michael Cole ahead of Elimination Chamber, AJ Lee discussed her decision to come out of retirement and return to WWE.
She disclosed that she turned down multiple offers to return before finally changing her mind. The former Divas Champion also addressed why she initially retired from wrestling.
To me, the opposite of love isn’t hate. It’s indifference. And when I’m done with something, I’m just done. Ask all of my exes. That’s sort of how I operate. The opton kept coming up if this something that she would be interested in, and the answer was always, ‘No, she’s done.’ I think there this one day that I woke up and it became a maybe. And once it was a maybe then it was a yes.
I retired mostly because I was injured and I didn’t have time to take care of that injury. And the physical aspect can take such a toll on your mental health. And I wasn’t taking care of either. And so, there was this huge fear, am I still me? Am I still healthy? Am I still safe? Then I kept coming back for more. [0:19 onwards]
