The WWE Hall of Famer, AJ Styles confessed that he is not interested in a major job within the Stamford-based promotion.

AJ Styles is considered one of the greatest in-ring performers in the history of pro wrestling. The Phenomenal One had a phenomenal WWE run for a decade before in-ring retirement after his last match against Gunther at the Royal Rumble PLE earlier this year. Styles also got inducted in the Hall of Fame this year for his legendary run.

AJ Styles is still associated with the WWE in a backstage role despite his in-ring retirement. The Phenomenal One recently revealed his current role in the Stamford-based promotion, which is scouting talent for the company from the indies:

I’ve been going to indie shows and checking those out, just seeing what everyone has to offer and stuff like that. I’m scouring the internet for something that sticks out…if you want to send me that stuff, fine, go ahead, I’d love to see it. So yeah, I’m trying to check out talent and see how much talent is out there.”

I know what it’s like to be on the indies and having a job. Traveling on the indies, sometimes it’s hard to get things that you need. And so, if they are as desperate as I was to make it in the wrestling business, then I’d love to see them before anybody else snags them up. That’s the way it is. And hopefully, I’m able to see talent before it’s developed.”

AJ Styles is not interested in a huge WWE role

Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast recently, AJ Styles addressed the idea of working in the WWE creative. Styles outright rejected the idea, stating that’s not his job:

I work for WWE, and I don’t know anything. But that’s not my job. My job is not to know what we’re doing next with that. My job is specific to what is for AJ Styles, and that’s not it”

Styles also said that he doesn’t need the job in WWE creative or storyline committee because that’s not what he wants to do:

So, I don’t worry myself with it. I don’t need that job, nor do I want to be part of the storyline committee or whatever that is. No that’s not what I want to do.” [H/T ewrestlingnews.com]

Only time will tell what the future holds for The Phenomenal One.
