The weeks since WrestleMania 42 have changed the entire WWE roster.

The April 24 roster cuts wiped out more than 20 superstars in a single day. The Wyatt Sicks, Kairi Sane, Santos Escobar, the Motor City Machine Guns, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, and more were all gone in one TKO-driven payroll move. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods parted ways with the company days later over contract restructuring disputes.

The company’s official roster page has now been updated to reflect another significant shift. AJ Lee and three other stars have been removed from their brand listings and moved to the free agent section.

AJ Lee, Paige, and others have been moved to WWE’s free agents section

Paige, AJ Lee, Nikki Bella, and Brie Bella have all been officially listed in the free agents section of the WWE roster page, joining Danhausen, Oba Femi, and Omos in that category.

AJ Lee returned to WWE in September after nearly a decade away. She started a feud with Becky Lynch on RAW and won the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at Elimination Chamber 2026. Lynch reclaimed the title at WrestleMania 42, and Lee noted she would be taking time away from television but would return at some point. Her move to free agents rather than alumni is a deliberate distinction – she remains under contract, but WWE has no immediate creative plans for her.

Paige’s situation is equally notable. Her first WWE match since 2017 came at WrestleMania 42, where she replaced the injured Nikki Bella and teamed with Brie Bella in the Fatal Four-Way Women’s Tag Team Championship match, winning the titles. Following that match, she was placed in the general roster section without a brand assignment. Now she is formally in the free agents section alongside The Bellas.

Nikki Bella had been listed on RAW since her comeback last year, while Brie was placed on RAW after her official signing in 2026. Both are now in the free agent section. Nikki revealed post-WrestleMania that she had broken, sprained, and torn her ankle and had undergone surgery two weeks before The Show of Shows, making her active timeline uncertain. Brie is the current half of the Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside Paige.

For a reigning champion to be in the free agents section is unusual, but it also reflects how WWE is managing part-time and returning legends rather than locking them into a single brand’s weekly schedule.

It remains to be seen what’s next for these stars.
