AEW Celebrates The Life Of Jay Briscoe On Dynamite

Jay Briscoe

The life and career of Jay Briscoe were honoured on an emotional episode of Dynamite that was headlined by Mark Briscoe taking on Jay Lethal.

On January 17th, 2023, the wrestling world was stunned to learn that Jamin Pugh, a.k.a. Jay Briscoe, died in a car crash at 38 years old. Since then, tributes have poured in from all over the world and the wrestling industry has come together to honor the fallen wrestler and devoted father.

After apparently originally being blocked by Warner Bros. Discovery from airing a tribute to Briscoe, the 25th of January edition of the show did just that as Jay’s tag team partner and brother Mark Briscoe took to the ring to face another Ring of Honor stalwart, Jay Lethal, in the main event.

In a highly entertaining match, Briscoe picked up the win when he dropped Lethal with his brother’s Jay Driller. Briscoe then spoke directly into the ringside camera as he told his brother “Jamin, I love you.”

The locker room – many wearing Jay Briscoe memorial shirts – then emerged to the stage to applaud both men for their efforts and pay another tribute to Jay Briscoe as the show went off the air.

A fundraising effort is still open to anyone that wants to send their support to Jay Briscoe’s family and that can be done here.
